What insurance do I need for my Trike?
Trikes are three-wheeled vehicles, and they require a specialist form of insurance in order to provide them with coverage. The type of trike insurance needed also depends on the trike’s features and what type of vehicle it is classed as.
For instance, if you own a three-wheel car, you’ll need to get a specialist car insurance, whereas three-wheel motorbikes might need a specialist trike motorcycle insurance. Insurers will also need to ask for more details about the trike before being able to provide a suitable policy, such as how the trike’s wheels are configured, whether it was built by a recognised manufacturer, or whether it has been modified in any way.
You then also have three different levels of trike cover you can choose from, depending how much coverage you feel you need:
Third-party only – Minimum legal cover
Third-party, fire and theft - medium level of coverage
Fully comprehensive – highest level of available cover
Get in touch with us today to find out how we can help you get a tailored trike insurance policy.
What other three-wheel insurance do we offer?
Our team can help you find cover for a wide range of three-wheel vehicles.
We can source policies for Auto Rickshaws, which are commonly referred to as ‘Tuk Tuks’ as well as Motorcycles and Scooters which have two wheels at the front and one at the back, sometimes referred to as a ‘Tadpole’ trike. Examples of these include Can-Am Ryker and Spyder Motorcycles and the Yamaha Tricity Scooter.
If you're not sure what type of policy you need for your three-wheel vehicle, don't hesitate to get in touch, either via our website, or by giving us a call on 01206 821 330. A member of our team would be happy to discuss your options with you, before helping you find insurance cover that ticks all your boxes.

Hear from our insurance expert...
What’s one thing I could do to decrease the cost of my trike insurance premium?
"There's several things you can do. You can reduce your annual mileage or install a Thatcham approved security device. You can store your trike or vehicle in a garage and let your insurer know. I would review the market value of the trike, so you can make sure your premium correctly covers the vehicle's value. You can also add a voluntary excess, as long as you can afford it if you were to need to make a claim."
