What is Flood Risk Insurance?
If your home has flooded in the past or is deemed to be in a flood risk area, you may find it difficult to get buildings and contents insurance. But that’s where flood risk insurance comes in.
Designed to cover the structure of a building and its contents in the event of a flood caused by bad weather, our flood risk insurance goes that extra mile to support homes that are based in a high flood risk area or have been impacted by flooding in the past. Typically, this insurance is included as part of a standard home policy, but some insurers offer flood risk insurance as an upgrade or policy add-on.
We know there are different policies to wade through, so we will find out more about your property to tailor a flood insurance policy to suit your home and your budget. We’ll talk to you about your home, find out more about what preventative measures you have taken and what you may have done to make your home more resilient should it flood again – this might include raising the electrics and laying solid floors which can reduce the damage caused.
Our insurers even have access to 'Flood Re' too, a government-backed scheme established to help those in high flood-risk areas obtain affordable home insurance. The cost depends on your council tax band, and it will only cover a home built before 2009 which is a main residence and is lived in by you, your family or are unoccupied.
