The coverage can vary from one insurance provider to another, but here are the typical three levels of coverage that’s on offer with scooter insurance policies:
Third-Party Only
Third-party insurance protects the other person involved in an accident, meeting the minimum legal requirement.
Third-Party, Fire & Theft
This extends the coverage to include damage to your vehicle caused by fire, attempted theft, or if it's stolen, in addition to covering the other party in an accident.

How much is moped and scooter insurance?
Until you provide us with all the necessary information about you and your moped or scooter, it’s hard to estimate exactly how much your insurance policy premium will be.
In general, the greater the engine size, the higher your moped or scooter insurance cost is likely to be. This is because larger engines pose a greater risk, and the expenses associated with repairs tend to be elevated. These factors are then considered by insurance providers when determining how much insurance costs.

Hear from our insurance expert...
What’s one thing I could do to decrease the cost of my moped insurance premium?
"There's several things you can do. You can reduce your annual mileage or install a Thatcham approved security device. You can store your moped or vehicle in a garage and let your insurer know. I would review the market value of the moped, so you can make sure your premium correctly covers the vehicle's value. You can also add a voluntary excess, as long as you can afford it if you were to need to make a claim."
