Meet Tim, the man behind the wheel of the Howden Motor Trade team

If you’ve ever spoken to Tim, Manager of the Howden Classic Motor Trade team, you’ll know that insurance isn’t just his job – it’s the road that led him straight back to his first love: cars.

Growing up in the turbo-charged glory days of the 1980s, Tim’s walls were plastered with posters of the legendary Group B rally monsters. And there was one motor that really stole the show; the unforgettable Metro 6R4. With its snarling engine and widebody stance, it wasn’t just a vehicle – it was a fire-breathing symbol of raw rally power. For a young Tim, watching these beasts tear through the stages of the Lombard RAC Rally was nothing short of magic.

Fast-forward a few decades (he's not saying how many…), and Tim has carved out a successful career in insurance that spans longer than he'd care to admit. But what sets his journey apart is the way he’s managed to fuse many years of expertise with lifelong passion.

Now at the helm of the Classic Motor Trade and Self Drive Hire teams at Howden, Tim thrives on helping fellow enthusiasts protect what matters most to them. Whether it’s a lovingly restored classic or a specialist hire fleet, he understands the stories behind the steering wheels.

“This role lets me refine my insurance skills, sure,” Tim says, “but more importantly, it lets me quench my love of cars.”
