Meet Debbie Adye

1 minute

As the photo shows, Debbie began her Classic Car journey at a very young age. Her father bought and sold cars and so you could say it "runs in her blood".

Debbie worked in the motor trade in her early 20s at a couple of large, franchised garages. She particularly enjoyed playing “God” for a major Ford dealership where it was her job to decide on what models to order, the colours, engine sizes and transmissions, along with the extras. Moving over to insurance, she started working for John Scott & Partners who pioneered the Classic Motor Trade product which was the beginning of what we have today. Debbie then ventured over to West Germany, helping our Armed Forces with their insurance. Returning to the UK, she was invited to go back to John Scott's. As they changed to being called Aon Automotive, Debbie managed the branch that specialised in the insurance of classic cars. Moving on to Aston Scott, she was pivotal in the development of their Collectors Car and Classic Motor Trade department. Aston Scott became Aston Lark which is now part of Howden.

Debbie has spent her whole working life surrounded by cars in one way or another. Asked for her favourite, she says that she has a soft spot for the cars of the 1920s and 30s, especially Rolls Royce and vehicles such as the Hispano-Suiza and Jaguar SS because of their elegance and grandeur.
