The value of a personal claims service for high-value vehicles
2 minutes
For owners of high-value and performance vehicles, insurance isn’t simply about protection – it’s about how seamlessly life continues when something goes wrong.
Policy features such as agreed value, specialist repair networks and flexible use are important considerations. However, one aspect that can be easily overlooked is the quality of the claims experience itself.
At the point of a claim, the difference between a standard insurer and a specialist broker-led approach often becomes clear. It’s the difference between managing the process yourself – and having an experienced adviser guiding and supporting you throughout.
In many cases, making a claim can involve multiple conversations, coordinating estimates and managing next steps alongside day-to-day commitments, which can make the process more time-consuming.
A single point of contact, acting on your behalf
With a high-net-worth policy arranged through a broker, you benefit from a dedicated point of contact who understands both your cover and your expectations.
This becomes particularly valuable when dealing with specialist vehicles, where repair standards, parts availability and manufacturer requirements can all add complexity.
An important part of this support is ensuring that clients fully understand the scope of their cover from the outset – and, at the point of a claim, having someone to help navigate the process and liaise with insurers on their behalf.
A real example: a smoother claims experience
Recently, a client experienced damage to their Ferrari windscreen.
They were keen to ensure the repair was carried out to manufacturer standards, using a genuine part supplied through their preferred dealership.
From the outset, their claims manager worked closely with them to support the process:
The client had clarity on their level of cover and how it would respond
They were advised to obtain an estimate from their chosen specialist dealership
The estimate was received the following day and reviewed promptly
Given the nature of the repair, the dealership required an upfront payment to order the glass. After the estimate was arranged, the invoice was later submitted and approved by insurers on the same day it was received.
The client received payment (less the excess) shortly afterwards, ahead of the replacement windscreen being fitted, allowing the repair to proceed without disruption.
The outcome: the vehicle was repaired to the correct standard, not affecting the vehicle value or invalidating any warranties, the process was smooth, and the client remained fully supported throughout.
Why this matters
While a windscreen claim may seem minor, for high-value vehicles even relatively small incidents can become more complex:
Genuine parts may be specialist or limited in availability
Repairs may need to be carried out by marque-specific dealerships
Costs are often significantly higher than standard motor claims
Delays can impact plans and enjoyment of the vehicle
Without the right support, these situations can become time-consuming to manage.
More than just a policy
This is where the broader value of a high-net-worth insurance proposition becomes clearer.
Beyond the policy itself, it’s the service that sits behind it which can make the difference:
Having someone to liaise with insurers on your behalf
Support in navigating decisions and next steps
Flexibility around repair options where available
A focus on helping to minimise disruption
Ultimately, it’s about confidence – knowing that if something does happen, you have guidance and support in place.
A more considered approach to insurance
For many clients, the benefits of working with a specialist broker become most apparent at the point of a claim. It’s not just about what is covered – but how the situation is handled.
And when the experience is smooth, responsive and aligned to expectations, it reinforces the value of having the right advice and support in place from the outset.
